NOTE: These instructions were written for FirstClass 6. Please note that some of the panels may have changed in the newer versions of FirstClass.
In order to connect to our BBS, you will need the correct version of the FirstClass Client. There are two options for connecting to our BBS with FirstClass:Once you have downloaded the appropriate files,
you can proceed with the setup instructions shown on this page.
If you are using OS 9.x or earlier, you should be able to use version 5.623 of FirstClass. You can try out the later version 8 client. However, as we still use an older version of the server software, any additional features that are only present in the later client will not work. If you want to save your password, stay with the version 5.623 of the client. Later versions of the client beginning with version 6 attempt to save the password in an encrypted form, and our older version of the server software cannot recognize an encrypted password at login time.

Click the "Setup" button in the upper right area of the window that appears on the screen. You'll see something like the following window:

These are the settings needed for connecting to LOGIC through your existing ISP connection. If you are on a broadband internet connection with Sympatico or Rogers, or if calling Aurora, ON (905) is a long-distance telephone call, this is the setup you should use. Set the drop-down menu at the top to TCP-IP WAN.FCP.
Note: If you are using a Mac OS X client, choose Local Network.fcp.
Set your User ID to your own name, and enter logicbbs.org into the Server: box. Click on the Save button.

This snapshot shows settings for those that wish to connect directly by modem. You need to run your computer from OS 9.x or earlier as this method won't work while using OS X. Leave the Server: box empty and put the phone number shown into the Phone #: box. Click the Configure button at the top right and set the modem settings appropriate for your modem brand.

Here are some settings to try if your modem model does not appear in the drop-down menu next to Modem:. Note that the Baud rate: has been adjusted to 57600. Old Mac models may need to use a lower setting. Save the information and then click the Save button on the Service Setup window.

If you are connecting for the first time, you will be presented with the registration form. Please fill in all fields, as incomplete applicants risk having their accounts deleted. All information is kept in the strictest confidence and is never divulged to any third party.
